In March of 2009 My best friend Barb and I, in a combined effort, rescued a filly named Jewel.

In April of 2009 Jewel was adopted out to a wonderful woman named Tracey.  Unfortuneately due to health issues and other family health issues Jewel will be coming back to us.  I know this was a very hard decision to make and our hearts and prayers go out to Tracey. Jewel has been renamed Skye. We will be keeping her new name.

These are pictures of Skye at Kripple Kreek Paints & Equine Rescue/Sanctuary in March of 2009.

9/12/2009:  Skye is now here at H&R's New Beginnings and WOW what a difference.. Tracey did such a wonderful job!  Skye looks GREAT...This picture doesn't do her justice at all.  Skye was a little nervous and with it being windy and a new place. I  will give her a couple days to settle in and then I will get better pictures and update more on Skye.

9/26/2009: Jessica and I got Skye out this evening and worked with her a little bit. Jess lunged Skye out in the field and she did pretty good going to the left, but seemed confused going to the right. Skye flexes, she will move her feet a little and then she figures out what you want and she will flex.   Skye does great with moving her hind end away from you and she will stop and face you.  I think with a little refresher on her ground work she will be ready to continue with her saddle training. She stood great for being saddled.  We slapped all over the saddle and moved the fenders all around and slapped them on her side, even took the lunge stick and was hitting the seat with it and she never offered to move..Skye stood great for mounting. She can be mounted from either side and even from a chair..I led Jess around on Skye and she behaved very well.. Once I get the round pen set up and I do a little refresher on her ground work, then I will see how much she knows under saddle.  I will post updates on Skye's progress...Hoping to get some more pictures of Skye posted on here soon, right now my camera is out of commission :-(...

9/27/2009:  My daughter Jessica and her friend Jess got Skye in the round pen today after it cooled off some, Skye did great in the round pen and lunged both ways very well and she did really good on her flexing. The girls saddled Skye up and my Jess had the lunge line while the other Jess sat in the saddle with the reins on the sidepull. Skye was a little confused at first about what they were wanting, but she started to pick it up. She did the turn right turn left pretty good and.she has a pretty good whoa on her...I was really proud of her and the girls. Sure wish my dang camera wasn't broke so I could have gotten some pictures of Skye and the girls :-(...

Below is a picture of Skye as a 2yr old, then named Jewels. I would like to find any information on this filly, so if anyone knows who originally owned this filly please contact me at honj@suddenlink.net

10/31/2209: Worked with Skye a little today. She is such a sweetheart and she really tries to please.

As you can see in this picture she has the flexing down pretty good :-)

Today was the first time I used a bosal on Skye and I think it confused her a little bit as she had been use to a snaffle bit, but she did really good. Whenever she got confused she would stop and flex herself..lol... Skye still gets a little confused on her go forward cue, but she is getting better. She does really good on her stops and backing. I am so proud of her.

11/4/2009: Mom and I worked with Skye today and she did great. I am so proud of her.  I was so blessed to have shared this wonderful day with my mom.

I am so proud of the progress Skye made today.

I am blessed to say that Skye will be going into training with Christy in March!!!!

Skye being her sweet self. She's not only a good girl she's a beautiful girl, inside and out :-).

11/18/2009: Skye now belongs to Christy Enos.  Thank you Christy for giving Skye a good home. I look forward to hearing how she comes along in her training. I know under Christy's guidance Skye will be an awesome horse.

I heard from Christy and Skye is doing great. Christy has renamed Skye, her new name is Sierra. Here is a picture of Skye/Sierra in her new home.

Thank you Christy for giving Skye/Sierra a wonderful new home!
